Being ‘fit’ means different things to different people but feeling destroyed is not the goal!

What fitness category are you? There are generally one of three categories you might associate yourself;

1. The person who wants to get in shape, feel comfortable in their skin, be healthy, have more energy to perform their everyday activities/jobs better.

2. The person who wants to take their fitness to the next level for more definition

3. The Extreme Fitness Enthusiast who really enjoys different fitness modalities and/or wants to be in exceptional condition for their sport

No matter which category defines you, be sure your workout is appropriate for you and you are learning proper form. Your workout should be effective to keep you progressing so you look & feel great!

The current state of the "Personal Training" industry as stated by KettlebellFitness owner "Andreas"

I have a question, actually MANY! Is it me or does everyone want to become a "personal trainer" these days? It seems like more and more I get people asking me how to become one. The individuals that show true passion to help others, I welcome with open arms! but...It seems like every local "gym rat" wants to go get online certified, watch some YouTube videos or training DVD on the latest "fad" and work people out at their local gym and get paid for it! Sadly this is what I feel the industry has become and I am ashamed to say so! Hello? Does anyone actually care about helping people feel better and perform better anymore? Why are we doing things we know NOTHING about to make $??? How does getting an online Personal Training certification and grabbing a few "trendy" DVD's at your local retail store with NO practicle experience make you a certified professional? Why are people paying money to have their trainer "warm them up" on the cardio machine amidst their PAID session? How is talking to your buddy, texting on your phone, checking out people in the gym, all the while running your client during a "paid training session" through a machine circuit that they should have learned during the intro session to the gym a Personal Training experience! Sadly, most people dont know better and its not their fault:People sign up to a gym usually after a long hiatus from working out, get set up with the "fitness professional" for their free training session and put their trust in that person! I have worked at many gyms and can appreciate "showing new memebers the machines" but working them out on those same machines after they Pay for more sessions is not "Personal Training"! Having a "weight loss client" walk on a treadmill will NOT help them lose weight! Having a person who is trying to strengthen their core do an "ab machine" will NOT help their core! If your $10 a month fitness center magically sales pitches you into their $20 a month plan to add to their 5000 plus members, than they dont care about you! If you are "doing P90X and arent following all 12 DVD's and the nutrition program precisely than you are half assing it! If your local Gym looks like a garage and everyone does the same workout of the day is that really individually productive? On the flipside for those who want the "Extreme training"....Puking in a bucket or lying in a heap at the end of your workout where you dont even have the energy to drive home, is NOT fitness! Last but not Least,If you are doing "Kettlebells" and your lower back,wrists,or shoulders hurt and/or you are using a Kettlebell that you literally can raise up over your head with your upper body, you should ask your trainer(DVD producer) his or her credentials!!! Seriously folks, I/we love&pride ourselves in what we do for people at KettlebellFitnessCT. We love making people work to their maxium potential everyday and leave with a smile. I(Andreas/owner) am NOT ranting to get people to sign up with us, I am just trying to shout out to the industry to wake up, stop thinking about luring people into your "latest training fad" and start caring about making people better! Please give me your CONSTRUCTIVE feedback, I am willing to back up my BOLD statements because I/We truely care about our clients and potential new cleints!

The form & movement of Kettlebells is very different than what most people are familiar with - It is very difficult to understand the proper form and movement from a DVD. There is a specific progression that occurs. The foundation movements of Kettlebells is mastered before moving on to any other movement. Then and only then, should you advance to the next level. Some clients do get the basics very quickly but even the most savvy kettlebell training enthusiast will be sure they have mastered each stage before advancing to the next level. If you want to train with Kettlebells, Kettlebell Fitness CT trainers are experienced with Kettlebells and will be sure you are training effectively & safely.

The Fitness industry today=Marketing!

really?, Really??,REALLY???! This is Andreas, Owner of KettlebellFitnessCT.... I'm about to make a really bold statement about the Fitness industry today and Sorry if you are part of it and are offended, but the truth hurts!:

I am sick to my stomach seeing the "Personal Trainers" and "Fitness Professionals" trying to make $ at the expense of people being naive! I was proudly one of the 1st CERTIFIED Kettlebell Trainers in Connecticut back in 2006 waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy before it became "Trendy"!
Now everybody wants to do "Kettlebell training" since it has gone mainstream and jump on the bandwagon.... but not for the right reasons!!! Kettlebell training is a very specific way of training that took me almost a year to master! Watching a "You tube video" or buying some DVD at Target or Walmart is very dangerous!

For the majority of "personal trainers" and everyday fitness enthusiasts that are teaching/learning Kettlebells this way....let me ask you this question: Does your lower back or shoulders hurt when working with Kettlebells?!? If the answer is "YES" pleeeeeease Put down that underweight(10-20lb) Kettlebell that you can curl or shoulder press like a Dumbbell and learn the proper movement!!!!!!! Bob, Jillian & your local gym that learned KB training from them or "You Tube" is not how to get in the best shape of your life using them!

A contoured "Bob" bell, or adjustable "Jillian"bell just torques your wrist and makes them $....It i isn't "Fitness" its "Marketing"!!!

I apologize for being so bold, but my Fitness team & I truly are about making people feel better and fit.....not about jumping on the latest bandwagon to try to market "trendy"!

If you don't like the message I stand behind and convey....feel free to shoot me a line, I will proudly and sincerely listen to anyone who has an intelligent/legitimate rebuttal!

February is designated as American Heart Month and today is “Go RED for Women”. KBF client Yvonne and I, as well as people all over the country, wore red today to show support and to raise awareness to heart disease, women’s No. 1 killer. Men, you aren’t excluded from this disease and also need to pay attention to your heart health. We’re all so busy but so many of us don’t take the time to make their health a priority. In order to take care of all the people you love in your life (and not have those that love you lose you) you need to stay active and healthy. KettlebellFitnessCT would like to help you take an active role in staying Heart Healthy by starting a fitness & nutrition program. Come join us by making February the month you begin to do this for yourself and for someone you love…and have some fun in the process!
